The Materials Characterization and Processing (MCP) core facility is maintained by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.

MCP provides analytical instrumentation, preparation equipment, and processing capabilities for the development and characterization of new materials. The MCP serves the entire Johns Hopkins community, mainly focusing on inorganic characterization and processing. Included in the facility are: Scanning Electron Microscopy, Nanoindenters, X-ray Photospectroscopy, Auger Spectroscopy, X-ray Diffractometry, and various sample preparation equipment. The center is scheduled to be consolidated into a new facility in 2018.
